Things People Said: A Republican in the Theatre

I went to the oldest continuously operating community theatre in America only because a friend was in a play.  It was one of those popular sitcommy plays and so there I was.  Behind me was a young couple on what seemed to be an arranged date, very dressed up like all the other patrons for this Artistic Event.  And the women went on a some length assuring the man that she’d seen the play elsewhere and it was very, very funny, and it was so funny she just laughed out loud again and again.

And he said, “Well, I hope you won’t do that here.”
